Handcrafted Stories " Behind of the Scenes of a Whimsical Pattern"

I was in a long flight from Georgia to California. I couldn't get a non-stop trip so I had to make one stop on  outward flight and one on my return flight.

It was a long trip, starting at the airport in Atlanta,GA and making a stop in Houston, TX then, continuing to San Diego, CA. Besides that, I had to wait for about 2 hours in each place to can catch the flights. So, it was wonderful I always carry my yarn and my needles in my bag to can knit almost anywhere.

My big surprise was I couldn't find any knitter or crocheter in any airport. I'm a member of several groups and I know there are a lot of people -women and men- who loves it.

This is a really beginner pattern. You don't need to have much experience to can make it. So easy!.

On my return flight, I have to make a stop in San Francisco, CA. My flight was delayed to almost 4 hours and while people got angry and upset because nobody wanted to wait, I was the only person who didn't complaint to the airline for the delay. I was happy I had taken enough yarn with me and I was working on a big project.

This is a versatile oversized infinity scarf. You can use it in many ways. Here I provide some of them.

5th Anniversary

Hi, My name is Luisa and I am Caramelo, Welcome to Caramelo Boutique!!!.

My beloved husband calls me “Caramelo”. This is a Spanish word that means “sweet” and this is my story…..

At JVC's Christmas Party

I was working at JVC, a Japanese company when I decided to not come back to work due to my first baby was born, so I have been stay-at-home mom since then, but it was until my second pregnancy I started knitting, crocheting, hand spinning and hand dyeing fibers because I had enough time to do that, then I got obsessed with yarn and fibers, so a dream came true: CARAMELO BOUTIQUE.

I have to say this is my best work project experience that started as a hobby and it ended as a my full day job.

It was Fall 2010 when I just realized I was pregnant for a second time in my life. Few months earlier we had moved from California to New Jersey. We used to live in Tijuana, Baja California (Mexico’s side).

I knew very few stitches, so I decided to take some lessons with a very experienced instructor. It was a funny class, because I was the youngest student. The instructor and the rest of the class -almost 25 people- were in their 70’s. After my 6th class my instructor told me I should continue in my own and I shouldn’t never be afraid if I lose a stitch. I felt like she kicked me out, but at the same time I felt I was ready to knit almost everything.

I practiced during the rest of the fall making baby shoes for my new baby and making many hats for my oldest son who had to model them for my little store. He was in a pre-school program so I had all the mornings free. When my second baby born, he also model some of my hats.

Caramelo Boutique was born in our small apartment in New Jersey on a very snowy cold Winter. I opened my store in February 2011 and I never looked back.

On Summer 2015, we moved to Georgia and I have my studio in our full daylight basement at home.

During these five years, I have been making newborn photography props mainly, but also I have accepted some special custom orders for scarves, for brides and for gypsy shawls.

I also have to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to the talented newborn professional photographers who accepted to take beautiful pictures of my items. I will name them in order of appearance.
